Consider nominating Black individuals/families in the Greater Sacramento area such as: grandparents taking care of grandchildren; single fathers and mothers; foster parents; caretakers of family members; small Black business owners; someone overcoming or living with a health/mental health challenge; creatives; community leaders; inspirational role models; teachers; and faith leaders.

Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) - December 27th
Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) - December 28th
Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) - December 29th
Nia (Purpose) - December 30th
Kuumba (Creativity) - December 31st
Imani (Faith) - January 1st
Kwanzaa is not meant to be a replacement of Christmas nor is it a religious holiday. Anyone can celebrate Kwanzaa and incorporate the seven principles (Nguzo Saba) into their daily lives throughout the year.
